Poems 2

The Shadow Of Your Wings

When skies are dark and trouble rains
My heart with joy stills sings
For there’s a refuge from life’s storms
Under the shadow of Your wings.

How precious is Your love O God!
How precious, Your thoughts of me!
Thank You for Your love O God,
For lasting peace and security.

Under the shadow of Your wings
I am secure from all harm.
Under the shadow of Your wings
I’m held safely in Your arms.

I will praise Your name forever
Of Your great love I will sing,
Thank You Lord for holding me
Under the shadow of Your wings.

How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust
under the shadow of thy wings.
Psalms 36:7

God Will Go With You

Do you sometimes feel so all alone,
And wish someone would call you on the phone?
Are there days when you wonder why you are here
And why your heart's so full of fear?

Do you think no one else has felt that way
And that all the others are having a great day?
What you're thinking may be true,
But chances are, others are feeling just like you.

Ask God to undertake for you,
To show you what He'd have you do.
There may be someone you should touch,
Someone who needs you very much.

God has a reason for you being here
And He can overcome your fear.
Go to Him, boldly, in Christ's name.
He'll take away your guilt and shame.

He'll lead you into the bright sunshine
And show to you His will divine.
Just follow Him with what you know.
He'll teach you more and with you go.

You can know He's with you every day,
Leading and guiding you along life's way;
Giving you peace and joy within,
Forgiving and cleansing you from your sin.

So, don't give up and don't despair.
God will go with you everywhere.
Christ understands the way you feel.
His fellowship and love are real.
Bob Hefner

I look to Thee in every need
and never look in vain.
I feel Thy strong and tender love
and all is well again.
The thought of Thee is mightier far
than sin, and pain, and sorrow are.

If This Were All

listen to the MP3 recording of "If this were all":

If this were all of life we'll know,
If this brief space of breath
Were all there is to human toil,
  If death were really death,
And never should the soul arise
  A finer world to see,
How foolish would our struggles seem,
How grim the earth would be!

If living were the whole of life,
  To end in seventy years,
How pitiful its joys would seem!
  How idle all its tears!
There'd be no faith to keep us true,
No hope to keep us strong,
And only fools would cherish dreams--
No smile would last for long.

How purposeless the strife would be
  If there were nothing more,
If there were not a plan to serve,
  An end to struggle for!
No reason for a mortal's birth
  Except to have him die--
How silly all the goals would seem
  For which men bravely try.

There must be something after death;
  Behind the toil of man
There must exist a God divine
  Who's working out a plan;
And this brief journey that we know
  As life must really be
The gateway to a finer world
That some day we shall see.
