It is writtten:
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit.
Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
(Ephesians 5:19)

God's precious Word was written to help us, and to be studied, understood, and applied. 
As an example, the Book of Psalms lends itself most directly to helping us deal
with our day to day emotions.
For the Psalms put into words our deepest hurts, longings, thoughts and prayers.
They gently push us toward being what God designed us to be,
that is a person loving and living for Him!
