17. Messiah was to be raised from the dead
Old Testament Prophecies
Psalm 16:10
because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
New Testament Fulfilment
Acts 2:22-32
Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited
by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you
through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you
by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of
wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God
raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because
it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said
about him: 'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right
hand, I will not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue
rejoices; my body also will live in hope, 27 because you will not
abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28
You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy
in your presence.' 29 Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the
patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day.
30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that
he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 31 Seeing what was
ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not
abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. 32 God has raised
this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.
Matthew 28:1-10
The Resurrection
1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary
Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. 2 There was a
violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and,
going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His
appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4
The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead
men. 5 The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that
you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has
risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go
quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is
going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have
told you. 8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled
with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them.
Greetings, he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped
him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my
brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.
18. Messiah is now at God's right hand
Old Testament Prophecies

The LORD says to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.
New Testament Fulfilment

hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and
was taken up into heaven.
