Do not jesus fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will
soon die away. Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and
enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you
the desires of your heart. jesus Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him
and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the
dawn, the justice of your cause like jesus the noonday sun. Be still before
the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in
their ways, when they carry out their jesus wicked schemes. Refrain from
anger and turn from jesus wrath; do not fret- it leads only to evil. For evil
men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the
land.
Psalm 37:1-9
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off
your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be
made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self,
created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Therefore
each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his
neighbour, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not
sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.
Ephesians 4:22-26
Listening and Doing
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to
listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger
does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so
prevalent, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save
you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do
what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it
says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking
at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But
the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and
continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-
he will be blessed in what he does. If anyone considers himself
religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives
himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father
accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows
in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:19-27
